HOW TO MAKE A SOLA WOOD FLOWER HAIR CLIP

A pretty floral hair clip is an understated alternative to the popular full-on floral crown. It adds an extra dose of elegance to any wedding day look.

Here's this easy tutorial on how to make a simple clip adorned with Sola Wood Flowers. Have fun creating one for yourself and for your bridal squad.

FLORAL SUPPLIES AND TOOLS NEEDED

STEP 1: PREPARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED

Make sure everything you need is in front of you. Crafting is more efficient and fun if your tools and supplies are within your grasp.

Cut a ribbon or felt about the same length as the barrette clip. You will need this to cover the metal so that the flower and leaves will adhere properly.

Plug the glue gun and put a dab of glue at the top part of the clip. .

Gently press the ribbon cut out. Hold for a second or two to make sure the ribbon doesn't easily peel off.

STEP 2: DECORATE THE CLIP WITH FLOWERS AND GREENERY

Squeeze a small amount of glue to the petiole of the leather ferns. Attach them to the clip with the blades facing outwards in opposite directions.

Next, add glue to the center of the clip. Immediately attach the sola wood flower and hold it in place for a few seconds making sure the flower doesn't fall off. For hair clips, choose a flower that has a smooth flat back. You may use a cutter to smoothen the base before gluing it.

Once the flower is glued on, start adding the fillers and other accents. Start with Stoebe, Broom bloom, or Caspia depending on what you have available

Attach sprays to both ends of the clip, underside the flower.

Glue in the dried star flowers. Cut these shorter than the other fillers for variation. Position these on both sides opposite each other.

Add sprays of preserved baby's breath as a finishing touch. This gives a soft and dainty look to the hair clip.

You can add more fillers, but the more lightweight your clip is, the better. It should be easily clipped to the hair without sliding.

Beautifully done. A clip perfect for the bridal party.
