STEP 1. STEM THE FLOWERS
Check this comprehensive tutorial on How to Stem Sola Wood Flowers. Once you perfect the stems, creating your forever floral arrangements will be a snap.
If you have ready-to-use green floral wires, by all means use those but if you don’t, any metal wire or galvanized iron works. Add padding to the wire by wrapping it with crepe paper or fabric. Finish it off with green floral tape.
STEP 2. ATTACH THE LEAVES TO THE TULIPS
Almost synonymous with springtime, tulips will always be a favorite to add in any spring-themed arrangement. For our spring bouquet, we are highlighting our tulip sola flowers. Yes, we have a wooden version of it and it’s just as pretty as the real one.
Create a tulip leaf from any left-over sola sheet. For this project, we are using handcrafted leaves from dried corn husks. You can use any material you have available such as paper, fabric, silk or preserved greenery.
Simply clip one end of the corn husk blade to the floral stem and tie it with a thread. Wrap with green floral tape. Repeat the same step using one leaf per stem.
STEP 3. ARRANGE THE FLOWERS
Aside from the tulips that we have prepared earlier, pick a few more flowers of different sizes and shapes. Peonies, garden roses and dahlias are some of our more popular blooms.
Create a bunch of flowers with the tulips projecting or positioned higher than the rest of the blooms. You can start adding fillers at this point. Use whatever greenery or fillers you have on hand or check our Filler section for more options.
As each stem is added, slightly drop the height to get a layered shape. The bouquet should be full, but still look loose and natural.
Add another layer of flowers and greenery. Spring is all about lush greens so be generous with your fillers and foliage.
STEP 4. SECURE WITH FLORAL TAPE
Secure the bouquet with floral tape. Wrap an inch or so down the stem. This will help hold the bunch as you wrap it with twine.
STEP 5. WRAP WITH JUTE TWINE
Squeeze a dab of hot glue just above the floral tape.
Press one end of the twine and hold in place until it is glued-on properly. Be careful not to scorch your fingers when pressing the twine.
Get the twine then loop it round the bunch above your holding hand. Twist and turn until about 2 inches down. Cut and glue the other end of the twine.
STEP 6. TRIM THE EXCESS WIRE
Cut all the stems at the same length so that the bouquet looks neatly arranged.
How delightfully easy was that to put together? Go to Sola Wood Flowers, choose your blooms, then create and bring a plethora of spring colors to your wedding and into your home.
Happy Crafting!
